30 for 30 Remix

So over a year ago, I came across a wonderful fashion blog Kendi Everyday and she does something called a 30 for 30 Remix Challenge (full details here). What you do is pick 30 items (ie. pants, shoes, shirts, skirts, dresses, sweaters....everything except accessories and outerwear and underwear) and remix them for 30 days. So I was super excited about it, because it is a way for me to basically "shop my own closet".
Well, over the course of the past year, I completely forgot about it until my sister suggested, today, that we both do a winter remix starting on Monday!!! So, we scoured our closets and compared items (over FaceTime) and I have compiled a list of my items below:

So, it is not actually going to be 30 days because we are skipping Fridays because at our schools, Fridays are jeans/Spirit shirt and I was NOT gonna waste a piece on a spirit shirt! So we will start on Monday, January 2, 2012 and finish on Sunday, February 5, 2012.

I will take a picture everyday to update you on my progress!!! 

I am SOOOOO excited!

Straight hair for Christmas

Since I am off work for Christmas break, I decided to straighten my hair and clip my ends.

That was the result! It has really grown since I straightened in September:

I also wanted it to look nice and curly, so I experimented with pin curls. I really liked the results:

Overall, I liked wearing my hair straight for a second, but I'm back to curls ( overnight dc'ing as we speak)!

Glad to know I am not the only one in debt!!

So today, I was browsing thorough blogs I follow and cam across FranChescaleigh's blog (Chescalocs on youtube). I have heard great things about her, but was certain I could not benefit because she has long luscious locs! 

Well, I was wrong her blog is a Hoot!! Plus she has wonderful hair tutorials, almost makes me want to grwo locs....almost! lol

LONG TALL SALLY

So, I have heard really good things about the quality of the clothes at Long Tall Sally, a store that caters to taller women, I was reading another blog (www.glamazini.com) and she was talking about a popup shop in her area. I thought to myself, "I live in a metro area...they should have one here sometime..."
Anyway, I went to their site and guess what???? They are having a popup shop in Dallas at the end of the month!!! Yippee!! I am so stinking excited!

Bentonite clay for face

So I was browsing pinterest (my current obsession) and someone pinned something about bentonite clay to clean pores and the oil cleansing method instead of commercial cleansers.
Anyway, so I went to the local health food store so that I could mix up both.

So I washed with Neutrogena Naturals first.

Then I mixed the bentonite clay with apple cider vinegar. This is what it looked like:

Not too thick and not too runny. Then I smeared it on my face a couple layers thick...

Cute right!! Lol! Anyway, I left it on about 15 minutes and the mask got hard and my face started to pulsate, very weird!!!
I cleaned it off with a washcloth and warm water.

I know you can't tell but my face felt great!! I used witchhazel as a toner and applied my Kiss My Face peaches and cream moisturizer.

My goodness, this month is almost gone and I have yet to post any posts of the styles I did when my hair was straight or update my regimen for the upcoming winter months (since I have a lot more that a TWA).

Keep me in your prayers and maybe this crazy life of mine will slow down!

Straight hair

I straightened my hair today, so I could clip my ends and I must say that I like the curls so much better!!! My hair has grown a lot in 15 months considering I bc'd with less than an inch of hair!

I also could not do this often: it was hot, and a seriously tedious process! I do not have that kind of time anymore!!
Well, I'm out!

Twistout results/ product suggestion

I tried the Organic Root Stimulator Hair Pudding for girls. Youtuber allthatsgold, said she loves the product for wash n go's and twistouts. This past week when I was on vacation, I wore a faux bun and....went swimming and desperately needed to wash my hair. Unfortunately I left all products at home, so I hit walgreens to get the things I needed! I made sure to pick up the hair pudding.
It worked wonders on my wng and left my hair moisturized and not crunchy!
Yesterday I did a twistout and the results were the best ever!!!
